My surgery is scheduled--now to deal w/ the nerves.

I am scheduled for March 24th at 9:45. I will be having a vaginal hysterectomy w/ removal of the cervix also, but leaving my ovaries. I am not sure if that is a TVH or not.
May I ask what pain meds you were on when you cam home w/ a TVH?
I have had a bilateral salpingectomy years ago for infertility. We eventually did IVF. But I have had 2 open laparotomies and 4 laporoscopies and why am I so nervous about this one?
I am thinking that the open laparotomies for removal of the tubes ( with full abdominal incision) is similar to what I should expectpain-wise w/ this. Actually the fiirst operation was for a fimbrioplasty and then I got pregnant but ectopic and had to have an emergency salpingectomy 10 weeks later. I had JUST recovered and then BAM! So I figure this can't be any worse than back to back open laps.
Anyway..I have a 3 month old to take care of ..surgery is scheduled for a Wed & I will have hubby here the rest of that week and then my oldest daughter (24) the next week. I hope that is enough, because that is it.
I feel like a part of my life is coming to an end-- why is that..I couldn't have more children anyway. I am keeping my ovaries, but I feel so sad.
Anyway- I am rambling...sorry

surgery March 24th

Hi,
My surgery is scheduled for March 5. I too am getting nervous.
I am having an abdominal TH, with everything removed (cervix, ovaries, uterus).
I don't have any children so I have been thinking--well, this is it.
My mom is going to care for me after as are various girlfriends.
I will be off work 6 to 8 weeks.
My doctor asked me what I wanted for pain and we decided Tylenol 3. (I had the choice of darvacet or codine.)
I will be in the hospital 4 days.
My boss had a VH and she said she felt virtually no pain especially considering how good she felt without all the equipment.
I just can't wait for it to be over.
