CURIOUS how many have had tubes tied
I have seen, through a number of friends, that there does seem to be a pattern of heavy bleeding problems after a tubal ligation. I, on the other hand, didn't have a tubal, but still had adeno. Who knows?

Me too...
My last live birth was 1990 with a tubal in the spring of 1991. My doctor at the time had actually, counselled me on the fact that the tubal could result in heavier periods, cramping, and endo....however, he also thought that I was too young for a more invasive procedure at the time.
Well as time goes on, jobs change, GP retires...other doctors were less sympathetic with my problems until the huge fibroids showed-up.
Anyways not really venting...just adding to the dialogue...I am grateful to have had the opportunity to fix my health issues and look forward to a better me and a better life with my family.
take care,

CURIOUS how many have had tubes tied
I had my tubes tied with my last csection in 1991. At the time, my doctor told me I was more than likely to end up with a hyster down the road. He said that most women who have this done have problems later with heavy bleeding and other problems and end up with a hyster. I honestly didn't care at the time because I didn't want any more children. He has since retired and I have a new doc now. One of the first questions he asked was if I'd had my tubes tied. I definitely do think the two procedures are related.
Betts, sorry for your loss.

CURIOUS how many have had tubes tied
Add me to the list. I had my tubes tied in 1983, right on delivery of my second child. My doctor warned me of the possibility of heavier periods, but I was willing to make the trade off for not having to use birth control. My periods got progressively worse, and after 2 endometrial ablations and fibriods that caused me to hemmorhage, I had an emergency LAVH.

CURIOUS how many have had tubes tied
I had a dermoid ovarian cyst and mild endo before my tubal 20 or so years ago. My endo cancer showed up 3 1/2 years post-menopause after no real gyne issues....

CURIOUS how many have had tubes tied
I didn't get my tubes tied but my co-worker and good friend did. She has irregular periods ( and she never did before) with big clots and horrible cramps. She is so envious of my hyterectomy. She says she's only good 1 week out of the month because her PMS got way worse too!

CURIOUS how many have had tubes tied
Thanks for all the thoughtful, kind words, it really helps.
I find this thread very interesting, I don't think it happens in every case either, but I thought of my friend tonight too, she always had very light easy periods, then within months of her tubal she had to have an ablation.
I have read reports that have mixed views on this, some say that at the age women have tubals they would begin to have problems anyway. It was said that a women who would have a tubal would be more likely to seek a surgical solution to her problems and that could account for a higher hyst. rate.
I think in my case it caused a problem that I already had to get worse. It only stands to reason that in a suceptable woman causing an interuption to the blood flow would worsen a problem that was brewing or there from the start. I had been having problems for years, but never had pain in my life the way I did in the months prior to my hyst.

Me too...
Tubes cut, tied, and burned the day after my 3rd child was born in 1994. I had problems after that for about a year. Then I was fine until about 2 years ago. The problems came back then 100 fold....
