I have been reading these post and some say they had theri staples removed before they went home from the castle. I am a plus size women and was wondering would my size have a factor in that!

I too am a rather "fluffy" Princess.

I think it really depends on the surgeon's preference. I personally had no stitches or staples externally. I was stitched from the INSIDE with dissolving sutures, and didn't have any problems with my incision.

I know several "thin" women have stitches and staples, whereas some don't. Sometimes larger women do have a harder time healing. I know I took quite a while to heal.

I think it also depends on what type of incision you have....bikini or vertical. Mine was about a 10 inch "bikini" (I still find that hilarious....haven't worn one since I was 3) incision.

Hi,

I'm not really "fluffy" but I had a 7" bikini ( no bikini for me either LOL ) incision. My dr removed half of my staples the day I was discharged from the hospital and the rest at 10 days post op. I took quite a while to heal completely also but now at 2 years post op, my scar is barely visible.

Just follow your dr's advice and take good care of yourself and hopefully you'll do well

I can't speak for any of the other plus size ladies out there, but I can tell you my experience with the staples. I was sent home with mine, and had an appointment with my doc at day 8 post-surgery where he removed every other staple and the drain I had. The others were removed at day 10. Even after that amount of time it wasn't painful - a couple were a little uncomfortable, but that's about it.

Frankly, emotionally they provided a little bit of support. Although I knew the staples essentially keep the outer edges together, it seemed like if they removed them I thought my innards would become my outtards
