Hi! I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I had trouble sitting for the first few weeks. I felt pressure that was very uncomfortable while sitting up. You don't have stitches down there but you do have internal stitches where the vaginal cuff is. Hang in there! It gets better!

Re: Should it be sore to sit post op

Every thing is swollen. Try ice pack in between your legs. Some will freeze a wet pad and place over your clothing between the legs. I used my frozen veggie ice pack and sat on it. Some of us like to describe it as feeling like a tampon is stuck in the vaginal opening! I would feel it worse when standing or walking. Laying down helped the swelling to go down.

Remember: if in doubt call your doctor. That is what you are paying him for.

Re: Should it be sore to sit post op

I'm 2 weeks post tvh, anterior repair and tvt. The past few days, I finally felt good enough to sit up in a chair. Before that, I stayed either propped up or laying down in bed because of the pressure. It does get better!!!

If you had a vaginal hysterectomy you would have had your cervix removed, in which case you more than likely have stitches in the vaginal cuff.

Re: Should it be sore to sit 6 days post hysterectomy

It was painful for me to sit for 9 weeks. At 14 weeks the sitting pain is finally gone.
