I can not handle the anger and hurt

This is really strange for me, but at this point I almost feel excited about the surgery!!! I have always been an emotional wreck for weeks before any other surgery, and a total basket case during the last week. I just got done with my plastic surgeon pre-op. This is something I would never have even considered having done in the past, but I am just looking forward to the hope of being a "new" me. Hopefully with much less pain, and not having all of those nasty scars. I suppose the anxiety will hit me at some point in the next few days, but I am really not having any right now. I know the recovery is going to be really rough, especially with both the neck surgery and the tummy tuck, but somehow that doesn't even seem to matter. Maybe I am seeing a little of the new me already in the psychological area. I have gone through a lot of therapy, and with some better medications I am feeling a lot better about myself in general. I see my therapist on Friday, and surgery is Monday. 5 days and counting!

A little anxious last night and today. I was supposed to get a call from the anesthesiologist, and have not gotten one yet. Needless to say, after being seriously injured by a resident anesthesiologist this is really the scariest part of the surgery for me. Pray for me. It will be a long couple of days. Thanks!!!

You are in my prayers. I totally understand your worries but have to say that your courage and bravery to do this is fantastic. You are a very strong woman.

Everyone has some stress and anxiety before surgery, even old hands like me. If it helps tell the anesthesia person that you have had problems before and its is your biggest worry and that way they know for sure that you have had problems but you make it look like its your issue but you are actually reminding them that you do have a problem there and to be careful. I can only use one arm for iv or pressure ect and i always remind them even though I have a bracelet on the other arm. And when I had my thyroid removed someone messed up because they caused nerve damage inside my mouth in the back. I dont have an M back there it is pulled tight on one side.. So when I go in and know I will be intubated I always tell them that I have a problem in there and please be careful how they lay the tube as well ect.. I know but its you that has to be relaxed and be sure everyone knows your special issues.. I think you will do well, I know you are waiting for this so prayers are going out to you and hope for a speedy recovery.. Remember drink and rest and keep us updated when you can.. have a good day tomorrow.. Relax hun it will be ok..

Finally got the call from the anesthesiologist this evening. I feel so much better. Since my favorite anesthesiologist is on vacation, he got my 2nd favorite to cover my surgery. Went over all the problems, the intubation injury from the teaching hospital, what meds and what quantities have worked best for me. He is going to glidescope me, so my neck will not be moved at all.

Time to go to bed. Have to be at the hospital at 7:30am, and need to get up early to shower and wash my hair for the last time for about a week. Yikes! I can't imagine going that long without a shower. The spinal surgery I would only have to wait for 72 hours to shower, but the drains for the tummy tuck have to be out before I can shower again, and that is usually about a week. It could actually be longer if I am still draining fluid.

I am just excited to get this over and actually start to rebuild my life. Surgery starts at 9am. I think I have everything all taken care of around the house, my little bag packed, etc. Good night!!!
