Why has my sex drive increased after hysterectomy?

I was expecting my sex drive to decrease after my total hysterectomy (ovaries preserved) last month. But it has increased. Could this be due to an increase in estrogen? I had a cyst on my ovary that was burned off. I do not know if a cyst affects your hormones. I hope it is not due to a increase in testosterone? However, I recently met the most attractive guy I have ever met in my life. So, maybe he is the reason.

I don't know why but it is not uncommon. Especially in the early weeks of recovery for your sex drive to be in high gear. Sometimes it stays that way sometimes not. Mine has stayed pretty high.. Which is great since before my surgery I really did not care much, dh is a happy camper!

Some women are lucky and experience an increase in their sex drive.

I'm curious why an increase in testosterone concerns you? Is there a problem with that?

Wouldn't an increase in testosterone mean my ovaries are not functioning as well or making less estrogen and more testosterone? I don't want it to cause more hair growth or male characteristics.

I guess that makes sense.

I kept my ovaries, but my hormones are all over the place since my surgery on 3/28. I've had hot flashes and night sweats off and on for the past week. I also had cysts removed from my ovaries. I've had them off and on since at least my 40s (first time I ever found out about them) and they haven't seemed to cause any problems except for the heavy bleeding I was experiencing off and on.

I'm happy for this turn of events and hope it continues. I also hope this good-looking guy turns out to be a keeper. I'm a romantic at heart.

I am happy to report that I do not seem to have had a drop in my sex drive other than the stark-raving fear that it's going to hurt like hell the first few times.

After reading the article about sex libido, I do not know if it means my ovaries are not functioning as well since my body is using my stored hormones? Or I am guessing my body is using my stored hormones since my libido is high?

I know my sex drive has been great since the surgery. I think in my case it is because sex isnt painful anymore.

Do you think this means I might not be as attracted to this man as I think I am? In other words, it is just overacting hormones?
