Make sure she listens to you. One thing docs do understand is the pain scale and resulting feelings. I always try to put down in writing what is going on, what my questions are and practically demand they listen to me. It can be tough when they try to rush you out. Stand your ground on it.

Re: 4 months post-op and now I need a urologist?

Thanks, zen!! I prefaced my meeting with her by saying, "This will take more than 3 minutes, because I honestly feel like I'm dying!" so she listened a little more. This doctor has NEVER ONCE touched me or my husband. Has anybody experienced that?? She talks, listens, and sits there and just writes Rx's, referrals, and orders tests............

She sounded concerned, so I'll start from there (and get a new doctor soon). She ordered bloodwork to check my thyroid, hormone level, vitamin levels and a few other things. She gave me my referral for a Urologist and said she was sure he'd the cystascope thing asap (still waiting for their 2 offices to speak so I could GET an appt!).......... And she changed my antibiotic to see if that helps..........

I hope this helps you out. Some docs are weird but not touching you is a new one. It does sound like you may get some answers and relief. Sending hugs

Thanks. I know--it's a whole new ballgame here in FL, compared to the dr's I'm used to in Manhattan!!!!!! Tryin' to keep on top of my own healthcare and be proactive. I swear, if you don't do this while you're living in the south, you die!

Re: 4 months post-op and now I need a urologist?

I have had many many UTIs. Especially recently. You are on the right track with showering instead of bathing. I love a long hot bath, but I really think it has been one of the contributing factors. My doctor recommended cranberry pills (since I don't like cranberry juice). They seem to help also. Like you, we don't know yet what is causing them so it would be interesting to me if they find out what is causing yours. I just had my hysterectomy and bladder suspension on June 12 and cant wait to see if things change as far as the UTIs.

Fast: I have to wait another MONTH for a Urologist appt (gotta love FL!). I miss NY, when I could get in to see a specialist the next week!!! I'll report back though, as soon as I go!
