Is doctor approval required for 'outercourse' after hysterectomy?
Hi Ladies!
I am 12 days out and happy to say my libido is starting to come back after what feels like forever! I know no intercourse for 6 weeks, but DH and I were thinking of trying some outercourse. Has anyone heard of restrictions on that?

Many doctors require "complete pelvic rest" until clearance but, if yours didn't give specific orders, then you need to call and ask what is and is not allowed. You risk problems or possible infection by engaging in any sort of sex too soon.
Only your doctor knows if your recovery has progressed far enough for any type of sexual activity to be safe ~ that's not something anyone here can say, I'm afraid.

My Dr said the same thing that poodle said. Complete rest until cleared. I just saw my Dr yesterday for my 5 week post op visit & I was cleared from all restrictions.

Every doctor is different. At my 2 week post-op appointment, I asked. He said nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks, but I was cleared for outer play as soon as I wanted.

Hmmm. I hear both above. Think about this... when you come to an orgasm you are using lots of muscles. I was told no inner or outer. I don't want to risk pulling something inside.
I'd double check with your doctor. For me, it is just not worth going through all of this again!

Thanks Ladies! Figured I would have to ask my doc but felt more comfortable asking here first. My regular doc is on vacation and I don't know who is covering her emails. Guess it is the prude coming out in me. You ladies are the best!

12 days is early you might cramp ??? I wasn't released until 4 wks and full dec at 7 wks. But put in a call.  yeah, libidos a great sign, I was happy mine never missed a beat.
