Big Disappointment at my Surgery today. :(

I was in for my LSH today, once they got inside to look around they discover my fibroid was attached in a way that they can't risk the "easier" way. I am going to have a TAH next week. I am so very bummed.


With the Tropical Storm heading down on us, they may be closed tomorrow in the office, I will have to wait for a firm date.

It may be August 11 or August 15.

Yes, it will work out. I am sorry it is not the procedure you had expected though. It will be nice to get it all over with. I am two months post op and doing very well. Best wishes!!!

While I'm sorry that you've had this setback, I'm very pleased that your doctors are obviously looking out for you and are being cautious with your health.

Here's hoping that the recovery from the TAH goes very smoothly, as it often does for other (((sisters))).

You are right--it is very hard to have your head ready for something that does not happen. But it sounds like you have a fine surgeon. Sorry about your difficult day. Christine

Hopefully you will hear soon about your new date. The offices may be open since the storm didn't hit as directly as feared.

Sorry to hear that your procedure was changed. I had a TAH, it really isn't that bad but your recovery time will change. I haven't had that much pain with mine, only took 5 pains pills the first week I came home and then only taking ibuprofen 4 over the counter pills, if I even needed them. There are a few bumps in my recovery but nothing major, and seem to be what everyone else is experiencing regardless of what procedure they had. I am in my 6th week and had my post-op appt. with exam and everything is healing fine. He has me off of work for two more weeks so my healing keeps on going in the right direction. I feel pretty good though. Heres hoping you have a speedy and pain free surgery and recovery

Sorry to hear about your procedure change. I had a TAH on July 24th to remove a very large fibroid and the surgery went well. Have had some discomfort in my recovery , but it's really not as bad as I had scared myself into thinking! Just have had alot of gas and constipation so try and keep on top of that! Good luck with your surgery. It's really not that bad and believe me, I am a really big baby when it comes to pain!!

The same thing happened to me. They ended up having to do TAH and had to take everything out in three parts because my uterus and ovaries were so large. I also have not had near the problems with my recovery as I expected. I was on pain meds for a day and a half and nothing but ibuprophen since then. I do agree that the gas pains are tough to deal with but only last a short period of time (at least for me). I think one key is to keep yourself going to the bathroom (use stool softners, etc). One of my fibroids was so large that it pressed on my colon, and I could only go about twice a week. No I go twice a day. LOL

I am still waiting to find out which day next week. The doctor's nurse said only half staff came in for work today.

I guess I better stock up on prunes.
