Will ablation help with endometriosis pain?

Could anyone tell me if an ablation will help with endometriosis pain? Everything that I have been reading here on this site has said that ablation is only a help for bleeding? Could someone give me some advice? I am facing a decision in life, "Do I have a hysterectomy, or an ablation?" Please, I am desperate for advice!!!

Re: Will ablation help with endometriosis pain?

I wish I could just reach out to you and give you a big hug!!! I was so lucky...I found a doctor that explained everything to me and didn't mind sitting down with me and answering all of my questions about different treatment options. And that is what you need. There are so many questions you need to ask...like is the endo confined to your uterus or has it spread to other organs? Could my pain be coming from other organs? And will ablation stop the endo from spreading? If your doctor doesn't want to or is not comfortable in sitting down with you and talking about this...then if it were me, I would be looking for another doctor. Ablation is a wonderful option. But it doesn't work for everyone. I'm sorry that I can't answer your questions. I will be praying that you do find your answers so you can do what is right to get yourself healthy.

Re: Will ablation help with endometriosis pain?

caris,

I haven't personally ever heard of ablation for endo. I would suggest that you contact an endometriosis specialist. They are usually Reproductive Endocrinologists. It's very important that you know that a hyster is not a cure for endo. Even if you remove your ovaries, it can still come back. Do your research, you are your own best advocate!
