Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

I don't know what fibromyalgia feels like. I had adeno and didn't know it. I was anemic, tired all the time. I would cramp two weeks before, during and a couple of days after my period. My back hurt and I did not have a good quality of life. I had an MRI which revealed one fibrod. The radiologist had already explained adneo to me. It is to me a form of endometrious except the tears are in the uterine wall which cannot be fixed. Needless to say it will be two years for me in Nov. I feel sooo much better. I don't regret a day having the surgery. You just have to get yourself together.

Good Luck

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

I have my surgery in 2 weeks but my diagnosis ahead of time is adeno. I have the Mirena so I'm not bleeding but I'm in pain all the time ranging from minor cramps to a stabbing feeling. I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

I also have adenomyosis. They did a pre op ultrasound on me the other day, and my uterus is sooooooo big, that they couldn't fit it onto the monitor in one screen. They also couldn't find my ovaries. I have no pain, but heavy scary flooding bleeding.
My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 22nd, and now I'm wondering if I'll have one more flooding episode before the surgery. I don't know what I'm more concerned about.... the flooding or the surgery.

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

I actually just saw my doctor today after having blood tests and ultrasounds done and she told me that she suspects I have adenomyosis and a refered me to see a specialist on Sept 16th.
Doing all the research now to be prepared for what ever comes.

Some of my symtoms include lots of pressure, cramps, shooting pains, and always feeling like I have been kicked in the back all night long. I have tried over the counter meds, heat pads, hot baths and not much really helps

I hope you find relief

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

All these stories ring so true to me. My dr. also thinks I have adeno. I have the pressure, cramps, stabbing pain, backache, leg cramps and my uterus feels like I'm several months pregnant. I don't have a surgery scheduled and my dr's keep trying other things. I'm about at my wits end though!

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

My most recent dr recommended I try Lupron but I was extremely hesitant...nothing I have read has shown any evidence Lupron will help adeno. I did get the Mirena IUD which is great - no more periods - but the pain is still there and getting worse, which is why I went to one of the endo specialists listed here and that's when I got the dx of adeno, and my surgery scheduled in 2 weeks. I am in pain every day ranging from a level 1-2 dull crampy feeling to an all out level 10 stabbing pain, usually in the 4-6 range. Sex hurts during and after, manual exams hurt, if I work out too hard or run too fast/long it hurts, etc etc etc. I am definitely looking forward to getting my life back!!

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

I had my surgery on July 16th. I knew I had 1 "little" fibroid that was causing all the problems. I have been dealing with the pain, heavy bleeding, and overall feeling not so great for the last 8 to 9 years. Because of my age, my gyno wouldn't even consider a hysterectomy. She pretty much said I was gonna have to be on medication to control the bleeding or deal with it. Finally!!!! I found a gyno that would listen to me. This last year I have had the "worst" cramps. They would be so severe that I couldn't walk sometimes. I pretty much spent 2 to 3 weeks in bed (when I wasn't working) because I just didn't feel good. Anyways, the morning after my surgery, my doctor comes in and explains the adnenomyosis. I had no idea what that was. But my uterus was the size of a bowling ball and was full of fibroids. My only question was why after all of these years having these ultrasounds (that would hurt at times because of my issues) no one before now ever found the problem.

I am so glad I had this done. I am still healing but its been a month and I was thinking if I didn't have the surgery I would have had another miserable period.

Re: looking for adenomyosis friend

I do not have a date scheduled for surgery yet. I am suffering with Adenomyosis. My last 2 periods were very heavy with the last one winding up in the emergency room. I have cramping all of the time, stabbing pain at times and at other times it feel like I have hot coals inside of my uterus. What causes that sensation anyway? It's horrible. I am hoping to schedule surgery ASAP. I cannot live like this.
