Erm.. I went wrong somewhere..

12 days post op.

My partners birthday. I sat upright rather recline more than usual.

I Bend carefully about 5 times to clean up puppy wee in the house it's never hurt.

Went to have lunch 30 min car ride. Used stairs for the first time.. One flight both up and down...

Played pokies for first time in year.. Lost money.

Lunch I had a beer with fish. I'm not on pain meds only anti inflammatory for one more day.

Come home with larger than normal pain.. I'm not sure if its gas pain but I get stabbing sensations near my "out hole"..it was so painful I couldn't relax

I have come off laxatives in preference of water and Metamucil and had a normal bm but was large. I feel a little better today but a bit more tender than usual?

Was it the beer? Was it naturally still getting rid of the anaesthetic drug.. Was it the stairs.. Or did I just do too much.. I hope I haven't stuffed anything too badly..

Re: Erm.. I went wrong somewhere..

Hi Ninji

Carbonation in drinks (beer bubbles) and fried food are gassy foods. That said tonight I cooked Chili so it gas for me tonight. I usually look to my foods for intestinal gas issues. After supper I take an anti gas tab. Brand named gas ex here in US. It is simethicone. Might help when you go towards gas producing foods.

Re: Erm.. I went wrong somewhere..

Degas is the same as gasx. It was my best friend for the first couple of weeks. It sounds to me like you just overdid it a bit. You're only in week 2 of recovery and you have only really just started the journey. Sheesh, I'm nearly 4 weeks out from surgery and even just sitting here at the computer for a few hours wears me out still. You have had MAJOR surgery and no matter how well you might be feeling, there's an incredible amount of healing to be done, especially on the inside where you can't see just how many stitches and stuff there are. Apparently you can be doing damage even if you don't feel any pain.

Have you looked at the checkpoints under the articles tab at the top of the page? There's some really good guidlines on there about what you should and shouldn't do. Basically in the first 4 week, you are pretty much meant to do nothing except make sure you don't sit in one place all day. It sux and is uber frustrating to be so restricted, but it's for our own goods! If we don't take care and make sure we give our bodies time to heal properly, we are the ones that are going to suffer future consequenses, which can be quite dire.

Rest and heal. That is your only job right now.

Re: Erm.. I went wrong somewhere..

It's only been 2 weeks. You will have some pain at times, you will have digestive issues and there are times you will feel really dead. Don't beat yourself up. You can feel like crap without even leaving your house! ;->

Rest up and don't worry about it.

Re: Erm.. I went wrong somewhere..

Yeah must the beer which reminds me i should check with the doc if I can drink beer soon lol! And the stairs, and the ride... For me it's the ride esp if there are bumps on the road so hopefully you're wearing a binder?

Yeah they're right, we could still feel pain even when we're lying down all the time, comes with getting the op. Take it easy ok and think Princess-like

Re: Erm.. I went wrong somewhere..

I had issues with bending over - was doing some light gardening, basically just bending down, and was really sore! Riding in the car can also cause you to be sore. Oh and when I went back to work at about 2 weeks I found that one flight of stairs (down and then back up) really bothered me! So pretty much anything you did could have caused your pain
