I had my endo biopsy today and I was told I could have the LAVH. My dr told I would have an incision in my navel. Now...I'm very sensitive in my navel area.... So is there alot of pain in that area after the surgery?...

Hi
I had a laproscope before Dr. did long verticle incision on 9/9. He wanted to get a look before making verticle incision because of a possible cancer. Anyway I had both at once. Let's just say compared to the verticle incision with 15 staples, the desolvable stitch in my navel was very minor. I can feel it if I touch it but it really is not bad at all. Good luck!

I have had 2 laps through my navel and pubic hair line. The only problem I had was the itching with the healing in the navel. I had more pain in the pubic area. I hope this helps ease your nerves some.

Have had 3 laps. Never any pain or problem with the navel incision or the tiny (0ne stitch) pubic incision.

My navel was very sensitive when I was younger, but after 3 laps and two pregnancies, I am not even aware of it anymore. Hey, maybe this will help???

Best of luck and try not to worry. Wish I was LAVH. I am definitely TAH/probable BSO.

Hi Faithful0,

I had an LAVH on 9/10. My belly button incision hasn't bothered me at all. The only time I even notice it is in the evening when I sometimes have swelly-belly and the band of my PJs rubs it. Not a big deal - I just hike up the PJs!

Best of luck with your surgery!

I had an LAVH and came home with 3 small incisions. One in my belly button had 2 external stitches and 2 internal ones. The second incision was about 3 inches to the right of my belly button and also had 2 ext and 2 int stitches. The last one was in my bikini line - One stitch in and one out. The only one that bothered me even a little was the one to the right of my belly button. It's right on my waistband line and sometimes rubs. I just adjust whatever I'm wearing a little up or down and its fine.

lap incisions

I had my tubes tied a couple of years ago and had LAVH on 9/12. I have noticed some tenderness in the area, but it's not bad at all! It does seem to increase when I've got going on. And from what I've seen on this site and heard from friends, it's a lot better than the abdominal incisions. Good luck!

Funny you should mention that. I just got back from the vet with my cat (catfight wounds... he's OK), and the office staff and I somehow got into a discussion of lap incisions, and how much they hurt.

I've had both - lap and abdomina, and if I had to choose again I'd go for the abdominal incision. I didn't like the lap incision one bit.

But... From what I've heard here, I'm in the minority - most women don't find them that ouchy.

A hint, if you do have a laparoscopy - when you sit down, and your waistband puts pressure on the incision, you can tuck a magazine or thick brochure in there (save your junk mail) to protect it. Worked like a charm when I got back to driving, and trying to wear jeans.

I had a lap back in April of this year and its was the first time I had anything like that done. I had one vertical incision below my navel and one horizontal at my bikini line. Neither one bothered me at all.
