Did anyone have a hard time with their insurance company and approval for surgery

I was diagnosed with endo in March 06. In June the doctor said he thought it was already back based on what I was telling him. So he gave me my options. In July, I called him back and told him I didn't want to do the medicines because of the possible side effects. They really scared me. I wanted they hysterectomy. He agreed. The lady that does the insurance paperwork said she usually gets a response in about a week. Instead the doctor's nurse called to say they wanted to know if I had tried any of the medicines. And they wanted a pregnancy test on file before they would even consider it. Then because the nurse told them that we weren't going there (as far as the meds) my approval had to come from the director. YIKES!

I cried for two days thinking they were going to make me go on the meds that I was scared to death of taking. Evidently, the doctor told them what they wanted to hear though. It was approved by the end of the second week.

So try not to worry. If the doctor feels that you need it, he knows how to get the approval.
