Pre-Op Prep.

Okay, what am I forgetting? My hubby has surgery day off work, as well as the following four days. (He usually works nights.) Day five post-op, he has to go to work, so my friend Sharon is going to come over and hang out with me to help with the kiddos. They're 8, 5, and 3, so still fairly high-maint. Hubby's off work the next two days after that. Is that enough time? Will I be up and about enough to deal on my own after that?

I have four girlfriends who will be taking turns bringing my oldest home from school in the afternoons for the two weeks I can't drive. (Small private school with no bus service)

I'm cleaning the house to within an inch of it's life, so I won't be stuck on the sofa staring at the mess.

My Bible study group is working together to make up a schedule to bring meals over for the first couple of weeks.

Okay, what am I forgetting, preparation-wise?

Pre-Op Prep.

Hi, it sounds to me like you've done a good job with your recovery preparations. What you might do to help you after the first couple of weeks is to have your DH or friends set out the food and things that you'll need during the day. Also with the heavier stuff - most most drs have a lifting restriction for the first several weeks.

Best wishes.

Oh, that's a great idea, thanks! I also thought of a couple other things: I'm going to get a haircut and brow wax beforehand, since I'll be needing both soon, and seriously doubt I'll be up for it after for quite a while.

Also, I'm going to invest in a bunch of paper plates, cups, napkins, and utensils. My hubby is truly wonderful about doing housework while I'm out of commission, but if I can do something to lighten his load, I'm happy to.
