Bleeding 5 mos. after Hysterectomy

Today I am 5 months post-surgery for a Total Hysterectomy including Ovaries, Fallopian tubes, cervix and uterus, etc. I have had minimal bleeding since the TH with it getting less and less each day. However, I am still "staining" a small amount and when I hit it with peroxide it foamed which to me means "blood."

I had heavy bleeding before my TH; my gyn/onc says I'm healing well and he does see the scarring in my vagina from the radiation. Any help appreciated

Hello,

It sounds like you have a more unique situation going on bc of radiation. Bc of that, the radiation may have changed the integrity of the tissue in the area where incisions were done during your surgery. That really is a question that your Dr can best answer.

In order for your Dr to get a better determination whats going on internally, a CT or MRI is usually done. (Among other tests). Did you have a CT done recently? Usually post cancer treatment, Drs run tests ever so many months post cancer treatment. Has your Dr expained follow up tests? If not, do ask what can I expect & when for next routine exam & tests? Be specific-Dr exams, tests, treatment & for how long? What is the prognosis? Dont be afraid to ask questions. Its your body & you have to be the best advocate-for yourself.

(There most likely is a section on the HisterSisters website for those sisters that have undergone cancer treatment. Maybe one of those sisters or a hostess can direct you to that link)....

For a standard hysterectomy, we tend to have post op exams at week 2 & 6. So Im guessing, you may have an appt in a week?

If you dont get satisfactory answers from your Dr, do ask for a 2nd opinion from another Gyn/Oncologist.

Best wishes to you in your continued recovery! Please update us. 🌹
