Low grade fever

I had my TAH on 8/7, kept both ovaries. I have been pretty good about not overdoing things, getting plenty of rest and go for a walk every morning. I have noticed that I steadily go downhill in the afternoon, usually starting around 2:00. I get tired, swelly belly kicks in, run a low-grade fever and have chills. The fever is usually around 99.7, so not too high. Is this just a normal part of the healing process? I feel so much better in the morning, and no fevers then, either. Thanks for any advice.

Low grade fever

Well, I would check with your doctor, but my doctor said unless it gets to 101 not to worry too much. I had that for a few days of the 99. whatever.

It will get better, I was very fatigued in the afternoons and it slowly got better over time.
Take care.

yes what is it about the low grade fever? its 3 weeks today since my TVH and I run a fever of about 99.7 then it goes away..I to have over done things..guilty like the rest of us..taking trash out, laundry, pulling weeds..I think family forgets about you the other half of recovery time..they see you are doing "great" so they dont bother asking anymore! kind of sucks! any info on low grade fever would help..also does anyone get the "very tired" muscle feeling in the lower half?? like lifting weights and feeling it the next day..that kind of feeling..like a tried muscle??

Low grade fever

I've had a low-grade fever on and off (mostly on) since I left the hospital. My doc says that it's completely normal and just my body healing. As long as it doesn't go over 101, he's fine with it. It rarely goes over 100, but since my "normal" temp is always below 98, I feel feverish at even 99.5. I just take my Motrin or Tylenol and it goes right away.

Low grade fever

Thanks everyone! I figured it was "safe" since it was under 100, but nothing like a little reassurance. Like MollyPolly, my temp is usually below the "normal" and I start feeling yucky if it gets over 99. I will be glad when this stage is over. My family came home today to find me huddled under a fleece blanket, with sweat pants, t-shirt and sweatshirt on, and it's 85 degrees here (no aircon either)! I am sure they think I am nuts, because I am chilled so much.

Thanks Bren! These women give me encouragement and make things easier for me. I truly love it here.

SpecialK, I think we were doing the same thing, LOL. I had on a sweatshirt, thick winter socks, and I was under the fleece blanket, or under the heated throw earlier. I just couldn't get warm - well, until one of those pesky hot flashes kicked in, but then I freeze again.
