6 weeks post-op.....HELP!

I'm 6 weeks post op tomorrow, my LAVH/BSO was on July 5th, 2007. I'm 35, mother of 2 girls, and married. My family has not been great through this. The rest of my familly lives 350 miles from here and I don't have a great support network. The same day of my surgery, my parents house burned to the ground. As if this all has not been hard enough to deal with, I feel like crap. My health is not great to begin with. I still have abdominal pain. I haven't slept in 6 days, everthing I eat makes me sick to my stomach, I'm on HRT, but unsure if this is working properly, I have a headache constantly, lower back pain, I have had an upper respiratory infection, that I have been unable to get rid of for the last 3 weeks. The URI means I have to take antibiotics, and a steroid dose pack because of my asthma, the antibiotics, either give ma a yeast infection, or thrush and the steroids are making me gain weight. I'm losing my mind. I don't really know if I should be looking into supplements, I feel like all I do is whine, but basically I'm miserable. My family acts like I'm being completely unreasonable. I really just don't know what to do. Please help.

Thanks,
Christine

Hi Christine,
I am so sorry you're having such a terrible time. I will be 6 weeks on the 9th. I have some of your symptoms. I, too, have no appetite. I have lost almost 10 pounds. I am tired of people telling me to eat especially when I am not hungry.

I don't know if you DH goes with you to your dr appointments. Maybe if he starts going he'll realize how major all this is. I was sick afterwards and I think when the dr explained what I was going through it made my DH more sympathic to my needs.

I will keep you in my prayers. Good luck and remember God never gives you more than you can handle although when we're going through it it seems overwhelming.

Might getting some sleep help a bit? Try Unisom or some other OTC sleep medication, with your doctor's approval of course. I know that for me sleeping well does away with a lot of aches and pains or at least minimizes them, plus makes me a lot stronger emotionally. Minus sleep I can be a basket case. Are you drinking enough water too? Somehow that help balance out a lot of things, which is particularly important when you are taking so many medications. Finally, I don't know if it's too late for this, but whenever I take antibiotics I make sure I consume yogurt daily to avoid yeast infections and so far this has always worked for me.

Good luck, and keep coming back, we are here for you!
