Two weeks in... Frustrated.
So, this really is the biggest complaint with me but I am so frustrated to have to sit around (well, recline around) so much. I won't lie.... It was kinda nice to get a little break from the ridiculous amounts of responsibility that I normally pile on top of myself. But I feel a lot better now. Sometimes I'll take an Advil at night if i have some aching in the cuff area. I'm getting restless and doing more. But when I do too much I end up lying around for hours afterwards. My hubby went back to work and my kids went back to work on destroying my house! Yes, this recovery is a long and frustrating one. Don't let anyone tell you anything less! For now I guess I'll just daydream about the day when I return to teaching my Zumba classes. The sound of the music, the smiling faces, the sweat, the exhilaration of teaching someone something new and the satisfaction and feel of being in control of my own body and energy! I can't WAIT!

Re: Two weeks in... Frustrated.
As a retired Zumba teacher myself, but cardio class addict, I hear your pain! I really miss that active part of my life- but my advice, don't rush it. I was feeling so good I had a really busy day on Tuesday- went to the gym and walked on the treadmill then walked around the mall. I picked up a terrible flu and my hips were in agony!! I had to ice them all that night to get any rest at all. The flu was most likely picked up at the gym or grocery store, and my compromised immune system. Lesson learned- rest! I'm gonna take it easy for another week. Yes I miss the gym and my life, but I don't want any more setbacks- they suck way more than the frustration of resting. I think we had our procedures on the same day! hang in there zumbamami!

Re: Two weeks in... Frustrated.
I can relate! I had my surgery on 2-25-13 and I wish I could speed up the recovery process. I am very active and not used to being a couch potato! I also get exhausted doing anything. This website is a Godsend bc it's nice to hear I'm not going through all this alone! Thank you and Good Luck! Visualize Zumba and it will be here soon for you.

Re: Two weeks in... Frustrated.
I had my TAH on 2/27/13 .I understand this resting is killing me.I had days I feel great and days I think something is wrong because I feel so bad.Do y'all have a bigger pooch of a stomach now then before surgery? I think it's just the swelling still happening.

Re: Two weeks in... Frustrated.
Two things:
1. Yes... Pooch-o-Rama over here! I asked hubby today if he might have heard the doctor say anything about me still being able to get pregnant! Lol!
2. Yep... I think I over did it. Cooked 2 meals, did some laundry, cleaned up the kitchen, took a shower and promptly spotted bright red on the toilet paper after I peed. I also am at that 15 day mark when lots of ladies get the bleeding from shedding stitches. Oh, and just when things started to slow down, my doctor poked around down there to make sure that everything was okay. So, here I am, banished to my lair (the bedroom) again by my hubby. He knows that I have less self control when I'm right in front of the kids/mess/hungry people!
Yep,... This will be a long boring recovery. I need to get a project. Maybe a loom? (I'm only half kidding about that. I hear its pretty awesome!)

Re: Two weeks in... Frustrated.
I was also a very active person and worked out so yes this sitting around stuff is driving me CRAZY too! It'll be worth it though in a couple months when we can all get back in the gym and get back to our normal routines. I keep telling myself this is only temporary and remembering those who had a hysterectomy told me it was the best thing they've ever done. Keep looking at the light at the end of the tunnel ladies! We'll be back to normal in no time. I have to tell you though I'm really sick of watching tv so I think I'm gonna start reading Prayers to all of you on a speedy and safe recovery!
