Re: Hysterectomy 2/24......feeling weak!

Ask your nurse if you can get some supplementary pain medicine. They also gave me toradol. Sometimes morphine doesn't work well for everyone. You should be below a 5 and comfortable. Drink lots of water! You might need an icepack. I didn't feel like eating either. Ask them if you can get something else you like, maybe tomato soup. They brought me pudding, crackers, gingerale or whatever they could get. Hope you're feeling better later today.

Re: Hysterectomy 2/24......feeling weak!

Thank you ladies! Waiting for my Doc to come and I'll talk to him about pain meds. He previously said that the 2nd day he would switch me to Percocet but that never does anything for me. I have a high tolerance for meds. Does it hurt when they take the catheter out?

Re: Hysterectomy 2/24......feeling weak!

Catheter came out quickly, I felt nothing. But depends on your nurse. I took Percocet, it's nasty but worked for me. They tried to give me dilaudid or something which did not work. Maybe Vicodin? They cause nause though, so you might also need zofran or something. Ask what your options are and don't be shy. I always apologized to my nurses and thanked them profusely whenever I threw up or they got me something I asked for. Hope doctor visit goes well! You are doing well if you can type straight, my vision was blurry from meds.

That's good to hear about the catheter! I too have been apologizing & saying thank you. They are all great here! My vision is blurry but I thought maybe my contacts were dry. Lol!

Re: Hysterectomy 2/24......feeling weak!

I, too, am glad that surgery is over! I just had the cath removed & am voiding and no pain when it was removed. I just ordered breakfast & will go for a walk later. My BP was good throughout the day yesterday, but became elevated overnight, I think, due to worrying. I also passed gas this morning too. I was on Tylenol and Toradal intermittenly & had a spinal (duramorph), so once my legs "thawed out", I felt more normal
I will continue to pray for everyone...get well soon!

Re: Hysterectomy 2/24......feeling weak!

It took me 2 days before gas started. They let you have solid food at that point. You might be released early once you're walking and peeing. They also suggested I take a shower on Day 2 and peel the bandage off. There were 15 staples and those were painlessly removed just before I went home. Relax and watch TV to keep your mind occupied. Call or text friends. Beg for visitors!
