Lumpy belly now

I had my surgery about 11 weeks ago. When the doctor took off my bandage the day after the surgery there was this bulge on the left side of the incision. He first thought it was a hemotoma. Now he says that when I was stitched muscle and fat were pulled over and formed a pocket. He initially told me that his surgical team stitched me wrong. Now he is denying ever saying that and says that it is very common. He wants me to go to a plastic surgeon to get it fixed. Anyone else experience this or heard of it?
