Abdominal numbness and pain normal after 2 1/2 weeks?
I had a TAH 2 1/2 weeks ago. My abdomen feels so heavy and as if it's being pulled down. The pain stops when I wear binder or just slightly lift up.
On the left side and low right, it's still numb. On the right side and just under the belly button it hurts to just lightly rub a finger over it. And by that I mean as if you were lightly tickling someone. When I was in to see the doctor at my 1 week post op appoinment, he said the numbness was normal.
Any ideas how long the numbness lasts and is it possibly nerve pain after the numbness wears off?

I had that nerve pain all last week. But don't feel it much anymore. Only lasted a few days for me. Felt like your describing.
My abdomen feels heavy like that too. Think it's from all the swelling. I had my surgery on March 11.

Re: Abdominal numbness and pain normal after 2 1/2 weeks?
The numbness is normal and takes different lengths of time to go away. Some ladies are lucky and it goes in a few weeks; others, it takes a few months; others, a couple of years; and still others never get full sensation back. My numbness was gone at 8 months post-op. You will know that the nerves are regenerating when you get tingling or itchiness.

I'm 5 1/2 months post op and I'm still numb across my abdomen. I keep getting different sensations and I'm thinking its down to nerve regeneration

4 weeks out and I still have numbness on my stomach. The doctor said it was normal because they slice thru nerves to get to the uterus and that it could be numb for quite some time or that I could have burning or prickling sensations later on.

Yes, normal! I still have a numb spot at 6 weeks tomorrow. My doc said that the nerves take longer to find each other and re-grow -- that is what the numbness is from. And the tenderness/achiness is pretty normal too. Be patient - your body has been through a great trauma and needs time to recover. They di a lot of wrok between your incisionand belly button!

Thank you all so much. I do need to be patient with my healing process which anyone who knows me will tell you, patience is not my strong suit. Will just have to make this a learning experience and hopefully be able to help others.
