Third week post hysterectomy, sensitive abdomen - is this normal?

I had my uterus and cervix removed and umbilical hernia. I am not great but no bleeding or severe pain(actually I bleed for about a day or two). I realise that at times not even my clothing can brush against my lower abdomen near the incision. Is this normal?

Re: Third week post hysterectomy, sensitive abdomen - is this normal?

It is for me (I'm 3 weeks post op). Unless I have company or have to travel, my wardrobe has consisted of low rise panties and tank tops!! That way I'm keeping cool and nothing is brushing against my incision site. I've read a lot of post that it does get better though, do no worries

My son's step-mom said it was about 3 months before she could wear jeans after her surgery. She had a TAH as well. That's what I'm looking forward to ... jeans or honestly, anything non-elastic lol

I echo Edna Painter. I am on day 22 of recovery of TAH. I am living in lose panties and tank tops. My incision is still sensitive, especially in lower abs.

Hi Heidster1376 & Edna Painter , I had a TAH and I'm 8 weeks , where the incision is I too found very sensitive to clothing and pants another Hyster sister suggested a sanitary pads between incision and pants and it worked wanders still using one now 😄 also bit extra protection , worked for me anyway , got nothing to loose .... I am back in most of my clothes but definitely not jeans and some trousers as I'm getting swellie belly now I'm doing alot more so i have to still watch what I wear ? ... The first few weeks I Was wearing just a vest top and pants around the house and I had very loose pair pyjama bottoms 😄 It does get easier ladies
Love and hugs for your recovery
