Related to surgery?

I am 2.5 weeks post op. So far everything is going very well. I went back to work 3 days ago (need the $$) first day was rough, very tired and sore when I got home. Next 2 days took Ibuprofen while at work. It helped a lot. What it isn't helping is the pain I am having in my lower back, pretty much across my whole lower back. If I sit for a while it gets better but standing (I stand for 8 hrs at work) kills me.

Any ideas or anybody else experience this?

Re: Related to surgery?

It is common for women to have low back pain associated with hysterectomy. All the swelling can cause nerve pain. Ibuprofen should help, but it should resolve itself as you heal. Give yourself every chance you can to rest when you aren't at work. The more you rest, the better your back will feel. You can also try a heating pad when you are home. Is it possible for you to use wear one of the heated (microwavable) gel packs while you work? Hope you feel better soon!

If you can't use the heated gel packs, ThermaCare or heat patches work great.

Re: Related to surgery?

I'm nearly 8 weeks post op and not sure I could stand for 8 hours a day at work!

You don't say what your work is but, can't you take some kind of a stool with you and at least take the weight off your feet for some of the time?
