Leg numbness/backache symptom of fibroids?

And if so, how long after my systerectomy can I expect it to get better? I've had lower backache and numbness in just one leg for a few years now and just figured out that it might be caused by my fibroids (several big ones). I always thought it was a back/disc issue. I'm already scheduled for a TAH on 7/10 and it just occured to me a few weeks ago that the numbness might be related to my fibroids pressing on nerves. Is this a common symptom? If so, can I expect relief from it shortly (how long?) after my TAH?

Re: Leg numbness/backache symptom of fibroids?

I have read posts by some other sisters where that was the case. I don't know how common it is. As far as relief, that is a terrific question for your doctor.

I have the same problem with my right leg - we've ruled out everything except the fibroids. I'm hoping that my surgery will bring relief.

Re: Leg numbness/backache symptom of fibroids?

Hello this sounds familiar, I had the same issues, my back aches were horrible!! My legs got numb and had a HOT feeling at times if I was on my feet at work a lot. I kept getting ultra sounds 4-6 months apart to keep an eye on my enlarge uterus. THEY said I had fibroids but after surgery guess what, I didnt have ONE, I saw the after photos... I did have a 5 month large uterus and several cysts on both ovaries and my right ovary was engulfed by a fluid filled cyst the size of 3" plus round I saw the after photos.. if that had burst in me before surgery... OMG the pain I can only imagine!! I did have horrible side pain a few months before my surgery on my left side... I wonder if a cyst burst that day too. I was already so sick of Dr not knowing whats wrong with me, I was not going to back to them until I had the pain more than one day.. it pretty much went a way the next morning .

After years of no help.. they said do you want a hysterectomy I jumped on it. NOW after doing research on my own ( I should have done it before) I know if I had been given the right amount of HRT I may have not had to endure (possibly) any of the years of peri menopause pain and issues, my enlarge uterus, or any cysts problems. I dont know why after years of several ultra sounds they kept thinking I had fibroids??? What a mess the medical community is. I dont even want to go to a Dr anymore I lost faith in them.
