and they're going to do what??

i finally came to the point where i made the decision to have a hysterectomy. i have tried all the alternatives, read up on other procedures etc. now i read about adhesions, removal of ovaries due to endo, bladder restructuring... whatever.... help. if i have endo can i keep my ovaries? none of this will be known until they go in right? i guess i just thought as far as getting it done and not what they would do after they get in there...like yank some stuff out, throw it on the floor, stomp on it and shoot it because this is the uterus that will not stop leaking and will not die!!!! geez i didnt want to think of what they actually DO in there...
nervous in arkansas
thanks!

Hi Darla
Your dr will give you some idea. If you want to keep your ovaires you can tell him/her that if they look healthy to leave them. Have you read any of the stuff on the home page? There are several pull down menus with lots of advice. This is the link to the Ladies in Waiting:

Pre-Op Hysterectomy Articles

good luck! :snowman2: from another Mainiac (but I'm here year round, get to enjoy the snow and ice)

and they're going to do what??

Hello Darla!

I haven't had my hysterectomy yet (next week) but one piece of advice is to remember that things may NOT be as bad as they seem.

I had a laparascopy a few years ago and at that time my general practitioner and my gynecologist were convinced that I had major endometriosis and polycystic ovary disease and the laparascopy revealed I had neither! Just lots of adhesions (and I'd never even had any type of surgery done before).

So, don't get too stressed out on the "what if" department.

Study up and learn all you can while working with your doctor. Also check out the references on this site to a variety of books that may help you and try your library first to see what books they have available.

Good luck and we'll be talking to you!
