stopping meds before surgery

I really would ask your doctor. I was told to stop all the pain meds Including the tylenol3. Percocet probably should be stopped at least 48 hours before surgery, at least in the cases I have heard of. Maybe it will be different for you (I hope it is) but I would ask so they don't find out you took it & have to cancel the surgery.

stopping meds before surgery

Had my pre-op with the GYN today, and she said I could continue to take the percocet, just nothing with aspirin. All of my vitamins were fine as well, which is nice to know.

The other best news aside from knowing I that I wouldn't live in horrendous pain before surgery, is that I don't have to do a bowel prep!

Next week can't come fast enough!

I am glad for you. Strange how doctors can be so different but you do what your says.

It is funny how different the Dr's can be.
No bowel prep for me, I get an enema. I was so jazzed not to have to do the bowel prep.
But, I go home with a suprapubic cathetor for 10 days and I haven't seen on here anyone else getting that type of cathetor, so again, all different.
I will find out about the vitamins next Mon. and until then I am really adding lots of extra and C and zinc. I am even going to ask if they will put C in my Iv, won't hurt to ask.
God bless all the Princess's, Kris

stopping meds before surgery

Hi Kris,
My doctor mentioned that I will only have a catheter for a longer period if something happens to my bladder. However, she said bladders were extremely forgiving organs and that they recover quickly so if I did end up with some inadvertent damage, the catheter wouldn't need to be in for much longer than a few days.

Good luck with your surgery, you are only a couple days after me
