Hi,

I'm sorry you've had to go through all of this. I know it must be difficult to understand why your old doctor missed these problems, but surgery isn't a perfect art, and sometimes unforseen things do happen.

Since you really can't go back and unscramble eggs, my advice is to accept what has happened and try not to let the past ruin your future. At least now you know why you were having problems, and hopefully, the days ahead will be much better for you. Enjoy life.

s,

Lisa

It indeed feels unfair when bad things happend to good people. Last year, I had a lysis of adhesions and was literally on life support for weeks after requiring a tracheostomy and more than 40 units of blood. To add insult to injury, I required more surgery a couple weeks ago and at 30 years old without any children had a TAH/BSO. While recovering in the hospital, I discovered that all the complications I endured last year were due to one doctors mistake. I think it's ok to be angry. It's ok to grieve and then......get thankful for what you've got and plan your next day. Remember, you're not alone.

it sounds to me like you would benefit from having counselling to deal with all the feelings of loss, despair, anger and confusion you are having which is a perfectly healthy response to your experience. i will pray that you get what you need to help you get through this difficult period in your life. God Bless

A little note of encouragement from a 31yr old sis..

hi..my heart goes out to you. First off, you need to give yourself time, and lots of it. I know this sounds too simple, but it has helped me through many rough spots in my life. I had an ovarian torsion from a jerk doctor from a few years back, because he let a cyst get larger and larger on my left ovary, and wouldnt do surgery "yet", so I ended up in ER w/ emergency surgery. I cant begin to tell you how angry and upset I was over it. I wanted to just punch him. I am not a violent person, but I could not fathom his ignorance. I switched my dctr right after that, and even switched my primary care ( another male doctor who put me on zoloft because he thought I couldnt be having abdominal pain ( nothing showed up on tests - microscopic endo)so therefore, I must be a depressed stay at home Mom. I ended up losing my trust in doctors until I found a better gyn, and primary care ( both women), and it has made all the difference. I finally had my TAH ovaries, tubes, uterus out on Aug 8th, and have finally begun to start feeling more like my "old" self again. I have had to place all my faith in the Man upstairs ( or the Woman!), and have had to trust that I am where I belong. I do not know what faith you are, but I ask God every day of my life, to lead me where I belong. I started this awhile ago, and it has given me an inner peace that I cannot describe. Everything happens for a reason - whether we like it or not, and all you can do is try to learn something from it, and move forward. If you want, try asking - and then just let go. You will be astonished at what you will find. Do not beat yourself up w/ anger and resentment for too long - there is so much more to your recovery, and your life awaiting you!

I have found that if you take today for what it is, tomorrow can sometimes suprise you with something positive and hopeful.
