Drug reactions!

Whew, I am 5 days post op and last night I hallucinated with my drug, oxycodone, it was hideous, i can't believe i wasn't warned about this possible side effect. I looked it up on web md and I spoke with the pharmacist this morning as well and hallucinating is definitely a known side effect, though not as common as some others. I thought people were in my room, someone was floating above my bed, people were trying to take my baby away (he's 13 now so it's certainly not post-partum depression! :-) )

I woke up sobbing, almost throwing up with fear, thank God my husband was there to hug me while I slobbered and cried for almost 30 minutes and then the rest of the night sat with the light on, the tv on, and a book in my lap.

It was a full-on hallucination. I've had bad dreams, nightmares, but nothing measured close to this there is no comparison.

I feel like i could possibly need therapy to get over this. I tried taking a nap this afternoon and had to leave the door open. Normally I bury my head in my pillow to block out sounds but I jumped at every sound and finally had to switch pillows so my hearing was unobstructed, I just hope this will wear off.

I've tried other meds in years past that made me feel stoned for a couple days after, so hopefully this will wear off soon too and hopefully the feeling will leave with it as well.

I just needed to let it all out, thanks for listening to me! I hope none of you have had to experience this, i hope you can have a joyous liberty from your uteruseless.

Love to my fellow Hyster-Sisters!

Drug reactions!

Hi, boy can I realte to what you're saying. I have really bad reactions to oxycodone and other narcotic meds. They do lots of nasty things to me. I make sure that I tell any and all of my health care providers about it. Be sure to do the same and hopefully you won't have to experience anything like this again

If you really feel that you need therapy to get past the experience, please don't hesitate to do so.

I'm sending lots of hugs and good wishes to you

Drug reactions!

They gave me two of those in the hospital and I took both of them when I should have known I can't handle narcotics. All night long, over and over again, I felt like I was falling and had to catch myself. Doesn't make for a very restful night! My daughter stayed with me and she said every two or three minutes I would jump.

After that, I tried taking one and that made me a little dizzy, so I went to a half and I was fine. I took a half at home when I needed it and now I don't take anything.

Those drugs are scary!
