Light spotting 2 wks after full hysterectomy

Yesterday was exactly 2 wks since I had surgery, everything was removed including the cervix via one large cut in my abdomen. All seemed to be going well until yesterday when I started to spot lightly. I plan to call my doctor, however I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Re: Light spotting 2 wks after full hysterectomy

Bonnie, I am 12 days post-op and had TAH. Had a yellowy brown discharge first day or two, which stopped. Last 2-3 days I've been having watery pink discharge on and off. My doc said this was OK. She said only worry if it's bright red or if it's soaking the pads or if there's fever. She also said to take it easy and don't overdo things. I have to admit the discharge is still making me nervous! Am looking forward to seeing what other sisters have to say about this.

I had a pink tinged discharge for at least the first two weeks. I wasn't concerned as it wasn't bright red and there wasn't a lot of it.

Re: Light spotting 2 wks after full hysterectomy

I spoke with a nurse at my doctor's office and was told that it can be common to spot up to 6 wks post-op. However, she also said that it is a sign that I am overdoing things, especially if it gets heavier. The cuts inside take a lot longer to heal than the incision on the outside. So, as stir crazy as I'm getting, I need to plan to stay off my feet a bit more for the next few weeks. I hope anyone else with this issue does the same!

Yikes. I hate to think about doing even less! I'm stir crazy too. Just had hubby drive me to drugstore where I bought some magazines - that's the most I've done since getting staples out last friday!
