Pelvic Congestion? (TTC)

hi,

this is my first post and am looking for direction! I have 3 children and a history of endometriosis/adeno. I had a d&C in october, and the bleeding, cramping and pain continued so had a lap done yesterday. My dr. expected to be clearing out endometriosis -- but when she went in...there was none?? i was very groggy when we were talking, but she told me there were varicose veins in my pelvis which is responsible for the bleeding (constant) and pain (also constant).

i've since googled and learned about pelvic congestion syndrome, and am assuming this is what we are dealing with. since we are considering having a 4th, she said we couldn't do anything about it until i was done having children...(we have already discussed hysterectomy prior to this). just looking for other people's experiences and stories with this, and if the hysterectomy has fixed you. i'm so sick of feeling so crappy. i was so hoping that she'd just remove something that was causing all my problems -- and am kind of bummed out........ thanks!

Re: Pelvic Congestion? (TTC)

Unfortunately, a hysterectomy isn't necessarily a cure for PCS. It depends on which veins are involved. If they solely involve the uterus--as my mom's did--the hysterectomy could end the pain. However, women with PCS tend to have more than just the veins around the uterus involved.

We do have a resource in our Resource Database on this subject and you also might find this site helpful: http://www.veindirectory.org/content...n-syndrome.asp

I would also recommend checking with a fertility specialist to determine what you can do to preserve fertility until you determine if you are done having children.

in there!

Re: Pelvic Congestion? (TTC)

I had a hysterectomy due to PCS and I have pain again that started 3 months after my surgery. I'm still trying to figure out what the pain is being caused by, but I would suggest looking into embolization.
