wow! that spots hurts! whats up?

Hmmm.....i have a really sore place above my incision.

You know the wonder flap of fat we all have if we have had an abdominal surgery.....well, mine has been sore, but improving daily....but today. OUCH!

There is one spot that hurts like a bad word. (as we say around here). I can feel all along the fat and it is soft and just a little tender, but then I hit this one place that is harder and hurts enough to make me want to cry. When I am not touching it is just burns and aches.

I have taken some advil, and finally broke down just now and took a good pain pill. What in the world is up with this?

I have put in a call to the doctors office and am waiting to hear from then, in the meantime I have laid down and put some ice on it, which actually made it feel worse.

WAAAAA!!!!! I was doing so well yesterday....

"hurts like a bad word" (not laughing at your pain, just the "like a bad word" statement - gotta use that!

Don't you just hate that - feeling great one day, like you can conquer the world and the next day blah?

You are still fairly early in your recovery so this may be normal, but when all else fails or you have great concern it never hurts to call the doctor.

I hope you feel better soon.

HeeHee! We try not to use what we consider "ugly words" around here. Just our family conviction. But sometimes you just feel like you need to say something more than "wow, that really hurts you know"...giggle....i have a friend who uses the phrase, and we have picked it up....

This thing really smarts.....grrrrr

Re: wow! that spots hurts! whats up?

Hi - I just had my 10 day follow up with my doctor today and I had the same issue. One spot that is hard and tender. He said it is an internal stitch with about 8 or 9 knots in it He told me it would take a while to dissolve (about 90 days) and that it helps prevent a hernia.

I don't know if that's what yours is, but it sounds pretty similar to what I have and I had a TAH on July 1. Happy healing.

I was wondering if it was the internal stitches ! that makes total sence , Im 13 days postop and i have a spot to, its on the left side at the end of the inscision , its hard and hurts more and when I do to much it looks more swollen than the other side ..it almost feels like the muscle is sewed up crooked lol Im glad to know tis probably just stitches ..

Re: wow! that spots hurts! whats up?

Oh boy...not good! I went to change the gauze covering on my incision, and noticed a little big of icky stuff on it, no biggie, right? ...well i also noticed a small hole that looked like a large pimple, I wiped it off and more junk came out...if I press on the really sore spot, more junk comes out....now it is brownish and bloody....I am not doctor, but I dont think that I a good sign...

Called the doctor on call, waiting to hear from him....i have an appointment in the morning with my regular doctor....hang on phone...

that was the on call doc, he says i am ok to wait till morning...it might be infected or might just need to drain...he said keep it clean and covered....

I am good with that...there's always something huh?

I'm not a doctor, but I've my kids have all had bouts with staph infections in the past year and what you are describing sounds just like staph. Don't wait too long to get it checked out if it doesn't go away. Good luck.

11:20am tomorrow!

I thought the same thing....the drainage is a little suspicious looking....might explain why i felt so off today too...no fever though...
