having and abdominal hystercomy and i am terrified

I did not find this site until about a week after my surgery (I'm 6 months post op and feeling GREAT). Although it helped me more than anyone can image (or maybe you all can!), I too would find myself getting too wrapped up in other people's post-op issues and that would bring me down.

Read a little and then stay off line for a few days and then come back. Information is a powerful thing - use it wisely but don't over do it.

kelly ,i had an abdominal hysto on mar 2,,while it was scary,,the fear or the unknown,,,u will come out much happier and lighter in the belly area too. i feel so much better not carrying around that nasty fibroid amongst other stuff that i found out after the pathology report. anyhow ,,dont be scared,,,im lbs lighter and free from pain,,,that type of pain that is,,the recovery pain is healing and different,,we know that it can be temporary depending upon your healing system. i am so grateful for this procedure,,no sadness,,no nothing,,,just happy and feeling better than living w/pain that was so foreign to my body,,and did not belong there either. anyhow,,things will be fine for u,,dont fret,,and my incision,
i just have a little swelly ,,not the usual swelly belly,,,but i look at this incision as beauty,,,not ill fated,,,i endured this,,so its mine and im proud. take care and good luck on your upcoming surgery,,,u wont regret it,,if u feel this is necessary to have a new quality of life again.
