help!!! Nightmares!!

Hi everyone,

My surgery is Friday, getting out my uterus and cervix leaving ovaries, and I am freaking!!! I have been having crazy dreams, last night I dreamt that I bleed out during surgery and when my DH asked to see me to say goodbye the doctor said yes but it had to wait a little, the med students were using me for show and tell!!

I know its nuts!! I can't stop thinking about it. I do home daycare and I need to be fun for the kidos tomorrow but I know the closer it gets the crazier I get!! HELP!!!!!

I have never been put to sleep so I think that is what scares me the most. I am really afraid of waking up afterwards and getting sick!!

Sorry had to vent, going nuts!!!

help!!! Nightmares!!

I too had strange dreams. I am 2 weeks post-op and feeling pretty good. If you're still freaking out about being put under, ask for something to take the edge off. the A man is usually very willing to help in that situation. Also, they will ask you in recovery if you are feeling sick and give you something to stop that too if you are feeling that way. Everything will be o-kay and the light at the other side is bright!! Good luck for an uneventfull surgery and I will be thinking of you.

Don't be put to sleep

You don't have to be put to sleep. You can opt. for a epidural. I have only been put to sleep when I had my D&C, hyseroscopy and laperoscopy and I am also scared of it. I told my dr. and he said he would do mine with an epidural, so that's what I plan to do. He said people with epidurals seem to recover easier also. Good luck. You will be ok either way.

help!!! Nightmares!!

Hi Nik,

It's perfectly normal to be scared! I had general anesthesia, but was surprised at how quickly I came out of it in recovery. Apparently I was only out of surgery for about 10 minutes when I woke up.

I had anti-nausea meds in my IV, and never had a problem.

Hope this helps a little!
