Post-op, 1 week

On May 7 I had my hysterectomy as well as bladder reconstruction. I had a total pelvic floor prolapse, and I have been in so much pain but dealing with it, what I am having a hard time with is that i am just so tired. i just want to sleep and I have no appetite at all. Has anyone else experienced this, I'm thinking that doing 2 surgeries at once was a bit to much.

Re: Post-op, 1 week

Nothing will sap your energy faster than pain. Feeling tired after major surgery is normal; it is your body's way of telling you that it needs rest. What are you taking for your pain? I suspect that once you get that under control, you will gradually regain your energy.

Re: Post-op, 1 week

I had a TVH/bladder sling/ A&P repairs 9 weeks ago. I had moments I felt very energetic and then bam...had to take a nap. This went on at least 3 weeks and then improved....started taking longer walks week 2-3...maybe up to a mile. Anyway by 6 weeks I was much better. But everyone is different depending on type of surgery...if you are anemic etc. Just listen to your body and rest, rest, rest!

Re: Post-op, 1 week

We had surgery the same day. Yours was worse than mine! I had a TVH, no bladder sling.

I'm exhausted, too, but being a bad patient, because....ugh! I feel obligated to be up and a physical help to my husband. He's so wonderful, but I'm feeling that inner tug.

I've still got pain, though, ibprophen usually helps enough. I COULD still be taking oxcycodone, but it constipated me so so so so bad that I can't do it anymore.

Here's to us feeling LOADS better by NEXT friday!!

Hugs to you!

Re: Post-op, 1 week

Thanks, for the support. I think that, that is also my problem. i have already been up doing the laundry, and dishes and some leaning. I know that i shouldn't but my husband is already working two jobs and we have three kids and I am just trying to keep up the house so that it doesn't build up. i also had problems with the constipation but I have been eating prunes and found that Miralax has helped. Thanks, Happy healing!!

Hugs, to you
