Is my doctor keeping something from me?
I will be four weeks post op and I posted this already in my recovery progress but because I am starting to get really worried I felt I would post here to see if anyone else has dealt with this. I have an ongoing, constant pain in my lower right side. I've seen my doctor three times post op about this and he keeps telling me it's part of the healing process and that I had alot of work done on that side. Well, I also had a bladder polyp removed during my surgery so I decided to call the urologist's office to see if anything unusual had occurred regarding my bladder. I did have a UTI when I left the hospital, which has cleared up, but I still feel like I am urinating differently but figured that was because of the polyp. ANYHOW...the woman I spoke with at the urologist's office was reading from the surgery report and told me the polyp was removed from the LEFT side and that my doctor had repaired a ligament on my RIGHT. She said she couldn't decipher the gynogological terms in there and said I should call him to ask what he did. Now, I am freaking out because he never mentioned this and I am scared he is trying to hide something from me. I have requested a copy of the report from the hospital and will be taking it and ct scan done post op to my internist and possibly a general surgeon to see what they think. I feel incredibly stupid right now, for having such blind faith in my doctor to not have questioned him more extensively. I googled "ligament damage during hysterectomy" and articles on ureter damage and nerve damage came up. Has anyone had this before??

Re: Is my doctor keeping something from me?
I don't know exactly where the pain is on your right side, but..
I have pain on my right side also. If I put the heel of my hand just under the rib cage and covering my palm area and to the right in the soft spot between the ribs and hip bone, is where my pain is. When I showed this to my GYN he said it sounds like I pulled a muscle which is "very common" and to apply heat and take Advil. But if it got worse to call him. I don't know if this helps you at all, but thought I'd post in case it does.

Re: Is my doctor keeping something from me?
Thanks Suzanne I appreciate the post! I have been putting heat on it and taking Motrin. Last night I slept only on that side as I did during the first couple weeks post op. Whenever I lay on my left side I still get a pulling sensation from the right and even when I lay on my back. Hopefully it will go away soon. Thanks again!

Re: Is my doctor keeping something from me?
I have had off and on pain in my lower right side since my surgery also. My Dr did send me for an ultrasound a few weeks ago to make sure that I didn't have a cyst on my ovary. That came back negative and I still periodically get a pain there. Hopefully you get the answers that you need!

Re: Is my doctor keeping something from me?
Thanks Terilynn! Don't cha know, yesterday the pain was in my LEFT side, and today it's alternating between both sides. Maybe it IS just healing but to have it in one spot for so long is alarming!!
