2 weeks post hysterectomy: Spotting all of a sudden?

I'm a little more than 2 weeks out from surgery. I'm not sure if I used the right prefix, but I had a total laparoscopic robotic hysterectomy and lost both ovaries (1 several years ago) and my cervix.

I have had hardly any bleeding since my surgery. The day of and the day after, there was just a teeny bit.

But all of a sudden I have some bright pink spotting.

I messaged my doc to see what he said, but I wondered if anybody has been totally fine and then had it start out of nowhere.

I was a bit more active the last two days than I have been.

Re: Spotting all of a sudden?

I am day 12 and almost the same exact thing. I figured it was a UTI, but since
I have no burning or itching when peeing, it might be just the "normal" thing you're describing. didn't want to call the doctor cuz it's Friday on a long holiday weekend, but my husband does. I'm giving it one more day because I don't have the other symptoms.

I messaged mine. I'll post if they message me back.

I do still have a tiny bit of burning when I pee, but They just tested my urine and it's fine. Doc said it's probably bc it was adhered to my bowel (endo), so it may feel bruised.

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy: Spotting all of a sudden?

Yes, spotting and discharge can change during these early weeks depending on where we are in recovery. Even Sisters who didn't have any spotting right after surgery may find that they start as stitches start dissolving and the tissues take over. Sometimes dried blood from surgery comes loose.

We have two very good articles to help guide you on spotting and vaginal discharge during the initial weeks of healing: Spotting vs. Bleeding After Hysterectomy and Vaginal Discharge After Hysterectomy. The general guideline is that if you're soaking a pad (maxi-pad) in an hour, that's an emergency situation; still, if you notice changes in your spotting or discharge which cause concern, run it by your doctor's office. You're still a patient, and they'll know the right questions to ask.
