Hematoma

I've been searching for two days to see if any sisters experienced this "set back". Recovery had been uneventful for fourteen days. On day fifteen, I started bleeding heavily. After resisting hospital return for 24 hours it was inevitable. Dr diagnosed hematoma. It was actually between the two layers of stitches. Had to have that extracted. Continued to pass small clots for two more days. Getting better now though. LAVH kept ovaries.

Hematoma

Hi -- I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

I also had a very large hematoma in my abdominal wall -- behind the skin but in front of the muscle layer.

It wasn't diagnosed until 7 months post-op. I just thought I had a serious, never-ending case of swelly belly and that I was a slow healer. Turned out to be a 17x9cm hematoma, and there was also a second one suspect deeped in the abdomen.

I still have the old fluid collection in there. They've drained 500 cc (about a pint) of fluid off of it already, and I can tell I need to have it done again.

I know you're not having any fun, but I just wanted you to know you're not alone.

mjd2491....how did you know you had a hematoma that far on into recovery?
The reason I ask is I still have a slight pain at the end of my incision at the left side, it is like a small pinch really, if I do too much it starts to hurt more so i just rest a bit. I was going to see the Doctor but am terrified it will be something else and they will want to operate again, something I am definitely not ready for at the moment.
