No appetite?

I had a LAVH last Thurs. (May 19) and every since I have no appetite and food actually makes me feel sick. I have been forcing myself to eat popsicles and jello and have been drinking plenty of water but food makes me feel sick and I actually have no interest in eating. (This change for me I have always been an eater.) Has anyone else experienced this? When will it get better? Thanks, Joan

No appetite?

I am almost 4 weeks post op and I am stilling having some eating problems. I was like you the first week, everything but popsicles made me sick. Since then nothing seems to taste good. I'm hungry and try to eat something, but it just doesn't taste good. It has gotten better the last 2 weeks, but I'm still not back to normal.

No appetite?

three weeks post-op, and still off my feed. I can't eat as much as I used to, and I don't really want to anymore.

No appetite?

I am 3 weeks post op and barely have had an appetite since. My food preferences have changed too.

Even coffee doesnt taste the same. I used to be a coffee addict.

No appetite?

I am 3 months post op. I also had appetite problems. It has improved but I seldom get that ravenous feeling. I could miss a meal and it wouldn't bother me. Prior to surgery I could not miss one meal without feeling hypo.

No appetite?

I know after my TAH the pain meds really made it hard for me to eat. That's why I quit them as soon as possible (under a week). After that, my appetite went back to normal, although I think I eat a bit less than before. At 10 weeks, I have yet to gain back the weight I lost from the surgery & the recovery-time muscle loss.

Take care, Karen

No appetite?

Hi. Today I'm 2 weeks, 4 days post-op. So comforting to hear that others, too, have a change in what foods they crave. We aren't alone, are we!

Have always been a cereal eater, and have enjoyed cereal w/blueberries most mornings. Cold Cranberry juice (never liked it before) has become my #1 beverage, next to water. No desire for coffee, or even my Diet Rite sodas (no caffeine either). Have enjoyed soup...tending towards simple foods. Ice Cream isn't agreeing w/my tummy now. But, craving lots of milk (1%)...trying to aim towards calcium rich food & beverage.

Each day I feel stronger and better. Truley, one day at a time makes for less pressure on myself, and those around me!

Take care, and God Bless all!

No appetite?

I agree with Karen. The morphine in the hospital made me seriously sick, vomitted several times & had to stay an extra night. As soon as they took me off the morphine my stomach settled & I could hold food down but had little real appetite until I quit the Percocet as well a week later. Now I can eat anything but am trying to be kind to my bowels & not overdo.

Note to Karen - I've been through Mountain Home & it's truly beautiful.
