Day 4: Estrogen and Blood Pressure Issues

Woke up this morning in the midst of wild hot flashes and the feeling that I was about to pass out. Went to the Doctor who said my BP was sky high (it's normally very low). I'm already taking 1.25 Premarin so we're thinking maybe my liver is metabolizing it too much and I'm not getting the estogen or something. UGHHHH!!!!
Anyone else had problems with BP like this?

Day 4: Estrogen and Blood Pressure Issues

Hi gsb!

I hope your doctor is helping to get this figured out for you. High blood pressure is nothing to fool around with, as I'm sure you know.

My own experience has been that when my estrogen levels are low, my blood pressure is higher than it should be. You may be on the right track thinking along those lines.

I've been on Estratest HS and various forms of compounded estrogens before ending up on Vivelle Dot. It seems to do the best of the ones I've tried and I haven't had the spiking blood pressure problems now that I'm balanced again.

If your doctor determines the oral estrogens aren't going to work for you, maybe trying a transdermal method would be a good next step.

Keep us posted about how you are doing, okay?

Day 4: Estrogen and Blood Pressure Issues

Thanks so much for your insight; it REALLY helped to hear that someone else experienced this..sorry you had to though!
I've started to feel a bit better with the higher level of Premrin..we'll see how it goes and maybe switch off to something else.
Thanks again...LOVE this site.
