Sore-throat sore-mouth < 1 week after TVH

Anyone have trouble with sore-throat or sore tongue - sore mouth after surgery? I had my TVH on 10/8 and have a white coating on my tongue/mouth...any info helpful!!

My throat was sore and dry for a few days from the tubes they put down it for oxygen. it will go away soon enough but warm soothing ginger, mint or lemon teas with a bit of honey will help too. Keep hydrated.

I had an oral yeast infection after my TVH that spread to you-know-where as well. My tongue, the roof & sides of my mouth were covered with a thick white coat. YUK. It wasn't painful but felt weird and I had a disgusting taste in my mouth and throat.
I got some nilstat drops for my mouth. I'm in Australia and I don't know what part of the world you're in but I just bought them at the chemist.
The yeast infection spread quite quickly and when I had it in the vagina, I got an oral tablet that treats a yeast infection systemically.
It all cleared in 3 days.

Hi dragon, were you by any chance put on Cipro?
I developed thrush wich is a yeast infection of the mouth after taking cipro for a uti, Dr. said was an unfortunate commen side effect of the antibiotic. If you have thrush it won't get better on it's owmn you need a anti fungal mouth wash Nystatin....Hope you feel better soon

I went to the family doctor today...I have thrush - a yeast infection in my mouth and throat caused by the antibiotic given during my surgery. I was given longenzes - 5 per day for 14 days and told to get a supplement with lactobaccilus and acidopholus bacillus to try to keep the other yeast infection from occurring. These supplements are also supposed to help with regularity.

When ever you take antibiotics, count on taking these too and you'll keep the body balanced. It helps the digestive system which helps the regularity.
