4 weeks post op-still stinky discharge!

i am almost 4 weeks post op TAH and still have a discharge that is quite stinky. i can't seem to get away from it! i change minipad frequently and have shower/bath every day. i cannot stand to be around myself.

anyone else still have a discharge and if so is it stinky? i went to dr to check to see if it was a bladder infection and its not. he didn't seem concerned but then again he doesn't have to be as close to me as i do!

Re: 4 weeks post op-still stinky discharge!

You had your hyster the same day I did. Yeah I still have the stinky odor and I also change my pad often and the odor is still there. What I understand is that its the stitches dissolving. No one else seems to notice it. Asked DH if he smelled anything,{ I hope he told me the truth, cause I sure can smell it} DH said, <No>.

If the odor is a putrid, infected smell, it's a problem. Mine is mild, but I can definitely smell it. It's like the smell of old menstrual blood. I keep a small plastic pitcher, some nicely scented gentle bath gel and some soft washcloths near the potty. Every time I pee or poop, I run a pitcher of warm water and give myself a little rinse. I used to do this during my periods and it makes a big difference in that slight smell that can linger when there's discharge.

I must be lucky I have been spotting for 4 weeks but no smell it may just be old blood that's comming away but can I ask did you have a tummy drain in after surgery to collect blood from surgery? I was in mid period when I had my op but my problem is avoiding a thrush type infection above scar where I have excess tummy skin. Is your scar ok ladies
