You are not alone. I'm at 7wks + 1 day. Yes, I had laparascopic surgery, so - unlike you - I don't really have anything external to worry me, but I have that pesky CUFF that is taking it's sweet time to heal....I'm living proof that there is plenty of "healing" or "recovery" or whatever you want to call it going on INside the body too. I know this because I do not feel like myself, yet I've got no external scars to prove what I've been through or what I'm dealing with now (flu-level fatigue, is what I call it).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you are not alone.. and even if you'd had the "minimally invasive" surgery.. you'd probably still be having some symptoms since our bodies all heal at different rates... this recovery is much longer for many of us than it's advertised in the brochures.

Oh.. and.. when I saw my doc last week and told her I couldn't function most afternoons she said, "It's just time to get out the oil can."

Huh?
Ok...althought I think it's not right, the oil can remark was pretty cute, lol. I started getting my energy back slowly about 2-3 weeks ago but I still have those days but because I am more myself now, everybody acts as if I should be running marathons or something. Maybe a good vitamin and calcium supplement would help if you aren't already taking them. Are you having problems with your cuff? I saw you said it was pesky and taking it's sweet time to heal. My Gyn gave me a thumbs up, everything is good on the cuff but he also still refuses to acknowledge that they gave me an infection during surgery too so.....I'm not feeling very trusting of him now I hope you get your energy back soon! It sucks feeling like crap every day!

I am actually not having problems with my cuff per se... but I also have not had sex yet. I think DH and I are going to try this weekend. I'm sure it will be fine. I did have an external exam at 6 weeks and was cleared for everything, including sex.

I just make the assumption that I'm not totally healed inside since I am still so fatigued. Maybe it's not my cuff... maybe it's just overall healing that need to happen inside. I read my surgical report which details all of the "connectors" that are cut during surgery.... so there's other healing going on.

I hate hearing about doctors who "refuse to acknowledge" something. They are all afraid of being sued and we, the patients, pay the price because we don't always get the full story or explanations... which is why forums like this flourish!
