Insomnia!
I have been having a heck of a time trying to sleep for the past week. BUT I have to say right now I don't have any other troubles. No hot flashes or night sweats or anything except I can't sleep. I don't even feel tired, go figure. But it is kind of driving me a little crazy. I like my sleep! I tried herbal stuff, I tried sleepy time tea, no go. I don't want to go to my Dr quite yet and ask for ambien or something so I was wondering if over the counter sleep meds actually work. I read online that they are just antihistamines (sp?) so with someone like me who takes so much medicine all the time, really get put to sleep by that?
Any ideas?

Insomnia!
Something to consider - It's only been a week for me but I've been thinking about it and it kinda makes sense. I've been trying to figure out why I'm waking up every hour etc. Mostly it's the urge to void - I found out I have a bladder infection but even if I didn't - with the swelling from the surgery, constipation etc , I would still feel the need to void more often, thus awakening more throughout the night and then more aware of any discomfort I was having and causing me difficulty to get back to sleep. I know it's been a bit longer for you but if you also seem to need to urinate more frequently especially in the beginning it could of started to become habit for you to wake up at night and may take awhile for you to get back to normal.
I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions on how you can do that as i'm needing some advice on that as well and I have also woken up completely drenched hair and all sweating so that's caused me some inconvenience as well - depending on how long that lasts thats the more my body will get used to the vicious cycle but I thought it might help to atleast have an explanation for why your still having insomnia
Best of luck to you.

Insomnia!
I'm 4 weeks postop and I'm right there with you. I haven't had a good night's sleep since the surgery. At first it was my bladder that was waking me up, now I can't seem to find a reason. I have trouble getting sleepy enough to lie down. Then I seem to stare at the ceiling before finally dozing off. And I'm awake every few hours.
Physically I feel great, just tired all the time.
If you receive any great ideas, please pass them along.

Insomnia!
I have slept great right from the night of my surgery until 3 nights ago. My dr took me off pain meds and told me to take Aleve~~that was three days ago and I have had a horrible time trying to sleep last night being the worst. I will not use it tonight, I do take one Xanax at night time to turn my brain off have for years and it has always worked until the Aleve~~~back to Motrin for me.

Insomnia!
I have trouble sleeping as well. I fall asleep for a few hours and then I'm wide awake. Every little noise wakes me up if i'm lucky to have fallen asleep. Very annoying because i know that sleep is healing. Oh well, maybe in time we will get back to are old sleeping habits.
take care....

Insomnia!
I had my hysterectomy a year ago February and have not slept more than 4 hours straight! I don't know what it is, I also feel fine but just can't get my sleeping pattern back. It must be hormonal in my case.

Insomnia!
I have been having trouble staying asleep at night, often its due to my bladder bugging me or I roll over and the pain wakes me up; other times I just am up! Go figure, I take my anti anxiety med if by 1130 I'm not asleep.

Insomnia!
I also am having trouble with sleep. Mine is not staying asleep, but getting there. I've tried setting my alarm to wake up around 8 and see if getting up earlier will help me get to sleep but that hasn't worked yet. I put a fan in my room for white noise and that has helped stay asleep.
I tried Advil PM but that just made me have weird dreams all night. Maybe it's because we are all so used to being active and now that we are resting during the day, we aren't sleepy at bedtime?? I just hope it gets better before I go back to work in August.
