Pre-op tomorrow and I have a cold

My hospital pre-op is tomorrow and I've got the tell-tale stuffy nose and dry throat. Everyone at work is sick. My surgery is still a week away. I never get sick and I'm sure I can beat this thing by then. Will they automatically cancel if I'm sick at my appointment tomorrow?

Re: Pre-op tomorrow and I have a cold

I think they would only cancel if you are running a fever (don't quote me on that).
I feel something lurking in my body and I have been eating pickles to keep from getting sick. See my Mom swears on drinking a swig of vinegar to fight any ailments. I have seen this work, so I eat pickles and suck the juice out of them (loaded with vinegar). I just can't seem to actually drink the vinegar.
I hope you feel better and you are able to move on w/surgery.
Blessings,
J

Re: Pre-op tomorrow and I have a cold

I too had a cold at my pre-op and my doctor said to be sure that the cold was gone before surgery day. I then called my primary doctor and got on some meds to be sure it was gone. I drank lots and lots of oj to fight it off as well. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better! As long as you don't have a infection and or fever they should allow you to have the surgery.
