Menstrual like cramping

I will be two weeks post op tomorrow. I've been experiencing menstrual like cramping all day today. I would normally start my period this week. How can this be? Any explanations or advise? I know it's not my bowels..I have had no problems in that department since surgery.

Re: Menstrual like cramping

I went to my 6 week post op today and that was one of my questions because when it was around the time when I would normally start my period. I had very tender breast and I was crying over all the sad stories on tv. He said this will happen once a month like we were having our period because of our ovaries. If u keep your cervix then the minor cramping is normal monthly.

Re: Menstrual like cramping

I had the same experience around 2-3 weeks. I also began bleeding...maybe related to your "period", my doc said more than likely I was overdoing it & had me take it east during week 3. I do not have my cervix, but I do have both ovaries. He also told me it was common with his DvH patients for whatever reason

Re: Menstrual like cramping

@alwayzbu, I understand still getting emotional and tender breasts since I still have my ovaries. It's just the cramping feels exactly like it did before having my surgery. It's the main reason for my surgery. I honestly don't know if I kept my cervix or not. I'll have to ask at my follow up on the 17th. @evolem, I have been resting a bunch except I did go to walmart for about 10 minutes yesterday. I guess that walking could've triggered it. Thank you both for your replies.

Re: Menstrual like cramping

We r one day apart from our surgerys and I also started cramping all day today. I kept both my ovaries and no tubes. I'm 14 days post op and I've read on this forum that its normal at this stage as we r healing. Hope u feel better. Prayers to us all

Re: Menstrual like cramping

@SylviaT, that's so strange! My tubes were removed as well. This is why I love this sight so much. In less than 2 hours of posting my mind has been put to ease by the three of you. Did you also have a DvH?

Re: Menstrual like cramping

I had a TLH and only thing remaining are my ovaries. I'm a slow healer so I've been from couch to bathroom just taking it super easy because I'm lightly spotting etc... this site has made a huge difference in my recovery. Reading all these posts and forums has helped me tremendously sounds like you are recovering very well except for our little cramping issues. Its all part of recovery.

@Nkb79 - no tubes here either. I had to have my Essure removed too :-)

Re: Menstrual like cramping

My cramping turned out to be a UTI.
