help! suggestions needed for recovery away from home

Hello Ladies,

I could really use some helpful suggestions from ya'll.

I am going to be staying with my Aunt for the first week or 2 after my surgery, as I am single and live in a very rural area with no close family to be available to help. She lives about 2 hours from here, where I grew up, and is close to the hospital where I will have my surgery.

I must have been brain dead the last few days becuase it just dawned on me today that I'm not coming back here after my surgery. So I will need to pack up everything I need and bring it to her house before my surgey date. I'm just not sure what all I should bring. I mean I know the basics: toiletries, PJs, robe, slippers, underwear, clothes, etc. But I am drawing a blank about what else to bring.

Suggestions are most welcome! TY in advance

I would bring a bunch of hobbies to work on, books, puzzles, etc.
Tons of confy clothes for walking around in and confy easy to put on shoes. I would be thinking of anything that would make me feel at home and confortable for the stay. Good Luck hope all goes well!

Yes, don't forget to bring walking clothes. You will need to walk, if the weather is good taking short walks outside is the best. You get to see some different scenery that way.

Also, don't forget to bring some Gas-X or Phazyme to help with the gas pains. You might also want to get some cotton balls, gauze, medical tape and peroxide so you can clean your incision (if you're having an abdominal incision).

Ohhhh one last thing I found very valuable were adult "tush" wipes. After you're home and your bowels start working it's kinda hard to wipe, using the adult wipes made it easier for me to keep clean. Just make sure to buy the ones that you can flush.

Good luck with your surgery.
