HELP! Surgery in 4 days and doctor changed the procedure

Just found out now i have to wait until Feb for my surgery. between the holidays and my doctors crazy schedule that is the soonest they can get me in. I am DREADING 2+ more months of wondering if i am going to ever stop bleeding. BUT i guess i can look at it as there is an end in site. (finally). I really think this waiting and not knowing what i am going to end up with is going to be the hardest part of this "journey".

HELP! Surgery in 4 days and doctor changed the procedure

Something similar happened to me, although I was the one who changed my mind. Because my fibroids were so large (one was 16" in diameter) my Dr. said he really needed to do an abdominal incision. Even so, I originally hoped he could tape care of it laparoscopically, even if meant doing an abdominal surgery later. But, as time went on and my pain got worse, I just wanted to get it over with. I also thought I would keep my uterus, but I decided not to because the potential for the fibroids to come back was pretty strong. and I didn't want to go through this more than once.

Going in I didn't know if the Dr. would have to take my ovaries or not, but he didn't because no cancer was found. In fact, what they thought was an ovarian cyst was actually a peritoneal cyst. I'll have to figure out what to do about that later. I did ask the Dr. to leave my cervix.

My Dr. was great throughout discussing all aspects of the situation, then letting me make the final decision.

After the surgery my Dr. told me in addition to huge pendunculated fibroids, I also had many, many smaller fibroids within the uterus, and I had adenomyonosis. Now I'm really glad I had the surgery.

Take care.
