okay, my surgery isn't until Sept 12th. but I am already packed! ...I'm driving my family & friends nuts talking about my upcoming surgery...I have to talk or I'll go nuts! So now I'm gonna bug you ladies, My Dr. informed me I have many and large fibroids so we'd be doing a bikini cut....and that unless we find any attatched to the cervix I could keep that....good...SO....I know I've been feeling bloated a lot lately and my cycles have been very heavy and painful....& not just cramps, but even dizziness and nauseous....is that all from the fibroids? has anyone else suffered dizziness? I checked my BP and its it's usual...SO with a bikini cut...what can I expect? I haven't felt like working out much lately but have managed to keep my weight steady...I've also been told I shouldn't work out my abs too much as they will need to go below them and if they're too tight (which they are NOT) that they would cut through them???!!!

I would say that getting dizzy may be from heavy periods. Being nauseous could be from nerves. I get both of that. I am having a hysto on the 28th. I have had female surgery before where they cut me on the bikini line. You will be sore for a few days and very tired so plan on having some help at home. I think the not working out thing happens to a lot of us. I am an avid exerciser but have not lately because I am tired or hurting. Hang in there it will all be ok.

Are you anemic? My whole experience started with a sudden attack of dizziness and vomiting that sent me to the ER. I was diagnosed with anemia. I had been having very heavy periods every three weeks for over a year. I started taking iron and that helped. By the time I had my surgery (2 1/2 months after my anemia diagnosis) my blood count was better. I had a bikini cut ( they just move the muscles out of the way and just cut the facia underneath). For the first week my stomach muscles felt bruises, but after that they felt fine and by the forth week most of the internal swelling along the suture line had gone down. I only took pain meds for the first week and then really didn't need them. The only limitation for me was no lifting over 10 lbs and no sex for six weeks. I have been going up and down stairs at home since the beginning. The hardest part for me was turning over in bed and getting up (the pain meds help with this). I had a 9 inch bikini cut since my uterus was very large and the doctor had to tug and pull on me to get it out. I had many fibroids, like yourself, and also had adenomyosis. I am surprised how fast I have been healing. I have tried to be very positive. I think this has helped me alot. I didn't stay in bed too long and tried to keep as active as I possibly could.

Good luck to you. I hope your recovery goes very smoothly.

I am willing to bet that the lightheadedness and nasua is totally due to anxiety- I have this also from time to time- always have.
I will be getting a bikini cut also- my uterus is probably bigger than anyone elses on this board- 22 cm (though my stomach is flat, you can't tell at all- but when I press, I can feel it up past my belly button). I have been told to WORK out! I am using my weight machine every single day- I am going to get really toned- to help in my recovery.

Thanks for the responses...yeah I did get my iron tested...for what its worth, in Canada the range is 10 to 150....????....I was at 32, so my GP said that since he doesn't know what my normal is he said I am low but not anemic. Of course he wanted to put me on hormones to better regulate my periods but I asked to see a Gyno. & she said that the hormones would have fed the Fibroids even more! Good thing I had researched a bit before I went to see my GP!...anyhow, another month and it will be over.

is it possible that you could also have endometriosis? I get nausea and dizziness with my cycle and it is associated with the endo. My surgery is the same date as yours. I am also driving my husband NUTS! I know the waiting is the hardest, but I do feel like I am going crazy at times. Between now and my surgery I have so much to do (including two kids bday parties) Hopefully, time will pass quickly. I have not packed my bags yet. Have you done all your shopping? What did you buy for recovery?

actually, I haven't really done that much shopping (for food) yet. I have a very talented DH...he cooks, so I'll just stock up on a few extra's and some extra frozen fruits for smoothies....but I will probably get a few frozen casseroles, lasagne, sheppards pie that sort of things....and some noodle soups in case I don't really feel like eating (he'll be pestering me to eat, so those are always doable.
