Guten Tag from the World Cup!

I am scheduled for a LAVH on June 30th. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in being anxious about joining the thousands of other Punctured Princesses.
It is reassuring to read that most post-op experiences are positive. However, I would like to ask if anyone has ever had a hysterectomy performed in Europe (specifically Germany)? I love my doctor (who thankfully speaks English), but I am apprehensive about being able to communicate with the hospital staff. When I had my D&C in October, I remember trying to speak German under the influence of sedation. Let's just say that didn't work very well.

I see you have already discovered the "Europe Forum" and I hope you manage to connect with some German sisters there.

Regarding your apprehension about being able to communicate with the hospital staff, from my own experience, here is what they will probably ask you:

What is your pain level?
Would you like to watch a movie?

Statements made to me by the staff were:

I'm going to remove your catheter.
We're going to get you up walking.
You should be able to go home tomorrow.

If you can understand these statements in German, you should be okay for the basics.
